The heart of every X-ray system is the dicomPACS^®DX-R acquisition and control software with integrated X-ray helper developed by OR Technology.

The software can take over the complete control of many X-ray generators and X-ray systems from different manufacturers, thus enabling an orderly and optimal workflow. A simple and user-friendly user interface via touch screen or mouse control completes the system.

The professional dicomPACS^®DX-R image processing, which can be adapted to special user requirements, impresses with outstanding image quality. High-performance image processing allows organ-specific optimisation and thus guarantees X-ray images of the highest quality.

dicomPACS^®DX-R is a professional acquisition software for X-ray images from X-ray detector systems (DR) and CR devices (imaging plate readers) of almost any manufacturer. The software additionally takes over the complete control of X-ray generators and X-ray systems from different suppliers, thus enabling an orderly and optimal workflow. A simple and user-friendly user interface via touch screen or mouse control completes the system. The professional dicomPACS^®DX-R image processing, which can be adapted to special user requirements, impresses with its outstanding image quality. High-performance image processing processes allow organ-specific optimisation and thus guarantee X-ray images of the highest quality.

Many helpful, integrated functions, such as the multimedia X-ray helper for the correct setting technique, and the intuitive operation work in daily operation much easier. In addition, dicomPACS^®DX-R connects to the/your existing patient management or clinic systems. The integrated, fully-fledged dicomPACS^® Viewer even allows the reporting of X-ray images within the acquisition software. Thus, the system can also be used as a diagnostic station with optional  expansion to a PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).

dicomPACS^®DX-R is the "heart" of a direct digital X-ray system. No matter whether it is a so-called "retrofit system" for retrofitting already installed X-ray units, complete new systems including generator control or portable case solutions for mobile X-ray generators.

Archiving and long-term storage are the cornerstones of any modern digital imaging system. Fast availability of both "fresh" and long-term archived image material as well as a high level of availability failure are the requirements that such systems must absolutely fulfil today. dicomPACS^®vet fulfils these requirements and, thanks to its archive structure (online/offline as archive copy), is at the same time a secure investment in the future. With the help of this "double" archive, you can manage and store all your data centrally.

The current images of the imaging modality are stored on the PACS image server of your network on a so-called RAID system. A hard disk RAID still works even if a single disk is defective.

Additionally, all new data is saved on an extra area for daily backup, thus, even this data is redundant through multi storage.

Older images and documents are distributed several times in the network on inexpensive mass storage devices. In this way, the entire archive can be kept online.

The daily backup with the dicomPACS^®vet backup module is carried out either on another hard disk or also on DVD or on a streamer or network storage. Storage on optical or magneto-optical storage media ensures the minimum long-term archiving of ten years legally required for your data in the X-ray Ordinance.

These offline copies should be stored outside the practice and are only necessary, so to speak, for extreme emergencies.

Speed is key

Images of the last months stored on the server are available at any workstation within seconds due to modern hard drives, RAID system and fast network connection.

Older images are saved several times on local PCs with conventional hard disks, the so-called PC farm. In this way, the entire archive can be kept online. Loading times from this part of the archive are only slightly slower than from the image server.

Even in the event of a failure of a PC farm computer, working is still possible without any problems and without additional downtime due to the standard double storage.

Cloud-based archiving of veterinary images with ORCA^® Archive

With ORCA^® it is possible to archive medical images and documents centrally or share them online with other veterinarians and groups of people, taking into account the highest security standards. This can be the equine veterinarian who has commissioned a purchase examination - only available in Germany, the animal owner, experts from breeding associations or even colleagues to obtain a second opinion.

ORCA^® Archive makes it possible to archive image material directly from the modalities (digital X-ray, CT, MRI, sonography, etc.) or from the PACS into the cloud. This archive solution is also used as an additional backup, among other things. The images in the cloud can be viewed and diagnosed in full resolution and quality (DICOM) with the browser-based viewer integrated in ORCA (ORCA View) or with our diagnostic software dicomPACS^®vet wherever there is internet access. If another PACS is available, it is possible to download the images to the respective computer from ORCA^® in order to view them in one's own viewer.
